Facing my Fear


Abraham Maslow says, “I can feel guilty about the past, apprehensive about the future, but only in the present can I act. The ability to be in the present moment is a major component of mental wellness.” Maslow was a psychologist (died in 1970) who coined the term ‘Peak Experiences.’ This would be a rare, exciting, or exhilarating experience that only happens if you are living in the moment.  I spent the entire day in a technology workshop.  The purpose was to kick my butt into the twenty-first century.  Let me just say I was out of my comfort zone. My self-limiting beliefs were screaming in my ear, “you can’t do this, you are way out of your league girl, for heaven’s sake run,” I felt a little like this young girl at the start of my day:

But let me just say, I stayed the course, and finished up bellowing, “Woo-who…this was so fun!” Living in the gap…
