I hate being alone. I love being alone. No, truthfully I hate it. So how did I end up alone at the lake house for three arduous days? I could blame God but this was all my doing. There is a significance to the number three in the bible, it means completeness. I’m trying to complete an edit on a never-ending story in three days, before everyone shows up for the fourth of July celebrations, and the closet ends up being the only quiet place to work. The three disciples, John, Peter and James found a quiet place to worship with Jesus, and then stood there aghast, when Jesus transfigured before their eyes. That had to be way cooler than the fireworks we’ll be whooping and hollering about in a few days. There is a connection here somewhere but it’s beyond me. Is it possible to see someone in a new light? Or maybe it was the three messages God spoke from the cloud (a real one, not the storage system), Jesus is chosen, beloved, and we need to listen to him. Jesus prayed three times in the Garden of Gethsemane before His arrest. No doubt I’ll be praying for some sort of reprieve, after waking from a strange noise in the dead of the night, and my dog abandons me to cower under the bed.
There were three hours of darkness that covered the land while Jesus was suffering on the cross. This makes total sense, we were crucifying our light, and we didn’t have a clue. Christ was dead for three days and three nights, before being resurrected, just before sunset. Only three people were allowed to ask God anything. They were Solomon, Ahaz, and Jesus. I ask God questions all the time and I’ve wondered about the silent treatment.
The Bible mentions the name of three angels; Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer. Lucifer was the one that messed up big time. This story is most concerning because Lucifer was one of the good guys. So what the hell went wrong? He decided his will was more important than the will of God, he had a greed for power, it was all out insurrection, and he was promptly reassigned to an undisclosed location. I heard he went undercover. That must have been huge news in paradise. We understand God as a triune being, known to us as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is described in the book of Revelation as a being, “which is, and which was, and which is to come.” The original never-ending story. I’m thinking a trilogy might be the way to go? I don’t know, it just seems complete.
